Whalesharks are huge, so much so that when you actually see one that is 9m long underwater it is an unforgettable experience. Often seen at Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia, they have now been found to migrate north past Australias Christmas Island and into the waters of Indonesia, where they have become threatened by overfishing. This whaleshark came straight up from the depths to gulp plankton suspended just below the surface of the ocean. Yellowfin tuna swirled about scooping up bait fish also attracted to the plankton.
