The shapes and colours of corals are many and varied and sea whips are another stunning version. Quite delicate, they usually exist in deeper waters away from wave action. Yet, like many corals and fish, the deep red colour is not apparent at depth and is only revealed by illumination with lights or flash. If you look hard, just below centre on the right hand side, you can see two tiny whip gobies, fish that live on the coral itself.
