To the north of Coral Bay on the Ningaloo Coast of Western Australia lies a massive area of shallow sand flats situated offshore but on the inside of the reef. Here the sunlight dapples and dances on the sand all the way to the edge of a drop-off where the water darkens as it merges into the depths of the lagoon that separates the reef and the coast.
