The ancient Mayan civilisation of central America considered the Mexican cenotes (sinkholes) to be entrances to the underworld. These openings into the earth are linked by complex cave systems that pass crystalline clear fresh water through them from one opening to the next. Many of these cenotes are filled with wondrous concentrations of Nicte-Ha lilies that you can carefully snorkel or dive among and it is so easy to forget you are underwater at all, it is more like you are flying in slow motion through a magnificent garden. The name Flor de Agua translates in Spanish to Flower of the Water.
