Lionfish of varying colours and shades inhabit much of the tropical waters off the West Australian coast. This subject was so motionless that I was able to get my lens within centimetres of it. It is quite fascinating to have a fish stay completely still while you examine it in fine detail with a macro lens. This image shows the large and beautiful pectoral fin where it attaches to the body of the fish.
