Diving along the sloping front of a tropical reef, I noticed the blandness of the hard corals was broken by the psychedelic colours of numerous giant clams. I could not believe the intensity and combination of colour within the mantle of this creature. Giant clams are found in tropical waters worldwide and locally across the top of Australia including Ningaloo Reef, Rowley Shoals and out to Christmas and Cocos Keeling Islands.
