"Alii" is the Palauan Islands word for "Hello," quite apt for this picture. Hawksbill turtles all have different personalities, some are shy, some placid, others extremely curious. This turtle had just settled onto the corals to rest when I approached it. As I composed the photograph it must have noticed its reflection in the front lens port of my camera and approached the glass. I took this shot then looked over the top and realised that its nose was almost touching the camera, a very curious little turtle. Found in Ningaloo Reef and right across the top of Australia as well as out into Indonesia and the Pacific Islands.
