This majestic gorgonian sea fan resembled a delicate tree complete with blossoms. They are amazing constructions and consist of tiny creatures forming a colony. They exist jutting out from the reef such that their massive surface area is at right angles to the ocean currents enabling them to feed on plankton as it passes along the reef. Found across the top of Australia including Ningaloo, Rowley Shoals and out to Christmas and Cocos Islands.
