The word "sombra" in Spanish is often used to describe the shaded side of a bull fight arena and I felt this an apt title for this image. Like an ethereal presence, this shadow of a lemon shark passed over me when several large sharks swam above. I was hypnotised by their shadows on the sand as they swam by, it perfectly captured both their being and their essence of movement. The most challenging aspect of photographing sharks is attempting to capture their beauty and grace instead of the usual images of sharp teeth and confrontational angles, which is unfortunately how they are normally stylised, but not typical of every time they interact with humans.
