As I was exploring a deep chasm in a tropical reef, I spied this green turtle nestled into the side of the reef and fast asleep. Silently I approached from behind and found myself completely above it. The shell was pristine. Armed only with a macro lens, my photographic options were limited. Instead of photographing the whole creature I decided to show the complexity of the shell. Green turtles are found in the tropics worldwide and locally from Shark Bay, through the north and across the top to Queensland, and out to Christmas and Cocos Keeling Islands.
