Resembling a vibration of mercury or, as it is often referred to, quicksilver, a divers bubble races to break the surface. After being exhaled, each bubble rises and in doing so it expands with the decreasing water pressure. The increasing surface area of the bubble conflicts with the surface tension of the water and, as they rise, most larger bubbles have a tendency to split into two. I had no idea that they formed this symmetrical shape at the split second of separation until after I saw the shot that I had taken.
