Sea urchins are from the species group echinoderms and this one, a cool water species found in the southern seas of Western Australia, is common around reefs and jetties. They can be easily seen as they wander around at night. Diving at Rob Jetty in Cockburn Sound I found many of these creatures still out and about one morning, probably due to the low light level created by the silty green water. Revealed by my camera lens, their complexity is far greater than could be seen with the naked eye.
