Imagine a reef slope of corals and colourful boulders covered in a stunning blanket of anemones, all so close together they literally touch each other. Alor, Eastern Indonesia above Timor is a region of oceanic deep water and narrow channels between several islands. Here very cold up-wellings bathe the reef slopes in thermoclines of (18-21 degC) water. This all translates into extremely healthy and very unique reefs of incredible density. I was so captivated with this reef slope that the only way I could do it photographic justice was to shoot straight down, capturing the chaotic patterns and textures of the rocks and reef growth, which in itself was simply beautiful.
