After travelling to the other side of the world and four days of attempting to locate these wondrous creatures, we were finally rewarded at the end of our last day with a pod on the move swimming past our boat. I quietly entered the water in front of the group and this young calf left the pod and swam underneath me. After looking up from below and blowing bubbles, it swept up to me and began looking me over with an obvious curiosity. Looking into the eyes of this dolphin I was immediately aware of a conciousness and intelligence looking back.
