These beautiful fish gather in aggregations of hundreds if not thousands, on the oceanic edges of coral reefs. They feed on tiny particles in the water column and swarm as a singular moving mass up and down the underwater drop-offs of the Rowley Shoals and similar coral reefs of the Indo/Pacific Oceans. Like my image Fusiliers I, this shot was taken with a slightly lower than normal shutter speed combined with rear curtain sync fill flash to achieve capture of their motion, although in this case with more ambient light, the effect is to a lesser degree.
