After travelling to the other side of the world and four days of attempting to locate these wondrous creatures, we were finally rewarded at the end of our last day with a pod on the move swimming past our boat. This calf repeatedly left the company of its escorting adults and would come in very close and look me over, at times flapping its tail around in exaggerated movements as if trying to instruct us on how to swim.
